Barret and Naomi’s story began in high school, junior year, when they were both 17. Naomi had a crush, Barret found out, and—true to form—he made the first move.What started as teenage butterflies quickly became something steady, loyal, and full of laughter.-They officially began dating in January 2016 and grew up side by side. From their years at Michigan State, to surviving long-distance while Naomi completed nursing school and Barret earned his Master’s, they remained teammates through everything. Best friends first, partners always.Barret proposed on the SkyBridge in Boyne City—one of their favorite places to ski together since high school—nervous enough that he avoided the whole family to keep the surprise intact. Naomi said yes, and the adventure that started at 17 is now becoming forever.
